Dark Factory Models API
The language, speech and image models Dark Factory serves — most of them on its operator's own hardware, a few from cloud providers — behind one OpenAI-compatible endpoint. For clients holding a key the operator issued; there is no sign-up and nothing to buy.
What it is
One HTTPS endpoint, https://models.dark-factory.duckdns.org/v1, that speaks the
OpenAI API, so existing SDKs and tools work by changing their base URL and key. Every request
needs a key, sent as Authorization: Bearer <key>; a request without one is
refused before it reaches a model.
| Path | What |
|---|---|
GET /v1/models, GET /v1/key/models | The models served, and the ones your key may use |
POST /v1/chat/completions, /v1/completions | Text generation, streamed or not |
POST /v1/embeddings, /v1/rerank | Vectors and reranking, for search |
POST /v1/images/generations, /v1/image | Images from a prompt |
POST /v1/audio/transcriptions, /translations, /speech | Speech to text, and text to speech |
curl https://models.dark-factory.duckdns.org/v1/chat/completions \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $DARK_FACTORY_KEY" -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"model": "auto", "messages": [{"role": "user", "content": "Hello"}]}'
Limits
- Requests are rate-limited (HTTP 429 when over the limit), and a key may be limited to some models.
- Most models run on a small number of machines at the operator's home; availability is best effort, and a model may be busy, restarting or replaced without notice. A few model names are answered by a cloud provider — the privacy notice says what that means for your request.
- Keys are personal to the client they were issued for. Ask the operator to rotate a key that may have leaked.
Your requests
Requests are processed to answer them. The gateway keeps an access log (key, model, status, time, token counts) and the full content of the most recent requests and answers for troubleshooting; older ones are overwritten. Nothing is sold, used for advertising, or used to train models. Details are in the privacy notice; use is subject to the terms.
